We are a small Miniature Horse Farm located in Central Nebraska. Our goal here is to not only breed and raise quality animals that are bred for the show room but if chosen would also make great pets. All our animals get very attentive care and are properly fed to maintain proper health.
Our new life interest began in the fall of 2008 when we purchased our first Miniature Horse. We went to our traditional exotic animal sale to pick up a few House Birds and I decided to take a walk out back and see what they had in the hoofstock section of the sale. If I had known that 20 minutes would have changed the rest of my life and taking on the best roller coaster I had ever been on I would have strapped on my seatbelt. I walked to the second stall and looked over at the smallest shaggiest little horse I had ever seen. There behind this fence big enough to hold an adult Camel stood this little 25" Chocalate Dapple filly. Now keep in mind I didn't know the darndest thing about miniature horses but I had already locked eyes and fell in love with the Shaggy little lady. So the whole time I was sitting in the stands I couldnt help but think if only Grandpa was here what would he say if he knew what was running through my mind, only a few words come to mind, "Joe what are you going to do with that overgrown puppy." But still at this point I didnt even know what I was going to do with it. I knew she wouldn't make the showring but also I was pretty sure I loved her. So to make a long story short I bought the little lady put her up in the barn and made it a point as soon as I pulled in the drive from work to go directly to the barn grab the little gal sit her on my lap and think to myself day after day I now know what all these breeders see in these little creatures.
It was'nt long after we bought little Miss Daisy I approached Rick and said Hold on to your britches cowboy this will be quite a ride. We went out started pick the horses we thought would cross with one another and began to build our herd. We are working very hard to be sure to get the proper bloodlines and best confirmation in each foal born at Sweet Haven Miniatures. We are always open to new ideas so if ya have some helpful information or just want to talk Minis get in touch with us. We hope you enjoy your trip through Sweet Haven's website.
We are looking to expand our herd and are considering Buckskins and of coarse more Appys, if you have any well mannerd mares look us up. I can provide references and you can visit the farm. We are very new to the mini world, I have always raised and shown Quarter Horses growing up and now have these amazing little critters with hearts the size of a Clysdale and wouldn't even think of going back, so if you have any advice on these little guys please feel free to email me or give me a call and share your wisdom...Please.
Please check back often and forward our address to any of your friends that might enjoy our site or are looking for what we raise.
